New grants program to help tradies boost their business

The LNP will help support Queensland tradies to spend less time on paperwork and more time on the tools, with a new grants program.

The $8.8 million program, part of the LNP’s Small Business First policy, will support small and family construction businesses and sole traders to access business management software with $5,000 grants, improving their productivity and bookkeeping.

LNP Small and Family Business spokesperson Brent Mickelberg said the grants were part of the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s future.

“The LNP is committed to building our small and family businesses with the right tools to manage finances and succeed,” said Mr Mickelberg.

“We want to equip tradies to spend more time on the tools and less time on the books, boosting productivity and earning capacity.

“Currently we know that after a hard day on the tools, many sole traders have to turn around and work more hours on the books.

“This is about giving them a hand to get that part of the job done quickly and efficiently so they not only get more time with their families but can grow their businesses.

“We know under Labor more than 36 per cent of our state’s small businesses folded within four years because they had no support and no understanding from the Palaszczuk/Miles Labor government.”

LNP candidate for Gaven Bianca Stone said mum and dad operations would benefit from the practical support to help build the skills of the business.

“The LNP’s helping hand will allow them to keep up with accounts and invoicing ensuring they keep finances flowing,” said Ms Stone.

“We want our small construction businesses to stay viable, so tradies can get on with the job of building housing for our communities.”

Builder Mr Nantes welcomed the announcement.

“If I could access some training and software, that would make it so much easier to get the very important part of running a small business done and dusted,” he said.

Mr Mickelberg and Ms Stone said Queenslanders could vote for the Construction Business Advancement Grants and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.

“This State needs a Fresh Start. Only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s future.”
