Patients arriving at Toowoomba Hospital by ambulance have waited more than seven hours in another sign the Queensland Health Crisis has failed to improve after ten years of the Labor Government.
The ramping data at Toowoomba Hospital between April and June this year found the longest wait time blew out to 7 hours 26 minutes, while other patients routinely waited more than four hours.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said no patient should have to wait more than seven hours on the ramp when they are taken to a hospital.
“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how stressful it is for patients who are forced to spend hours on end with a ramped ambulance,” Ms Bates said.
“Paramedics did not sign up to this vocation to spend most of their shift on a ramp, and it’s not the doctors and nurses fault.
“These new statistics prove how dire the situation has become.
“The chaos and crisis of the Palaszczuk-Miles Government is having a direct impact on how paramedics do their jobs.
“Health Minister Shannon Fentiman has only treated ambulance ramping as a political problem.
“Patient care must always be the top priority, but the Labor Government has been more focused on throwing money and media releases at the problem.
“Despite all the promises, round tables and hospital tours, Shannon Fentiman has failed to fix the Queensland Health Crisis. She is the worst Health Minister in the history of Queensland.
“These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet, these are Queenslanders in need of medical attention.
“All Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live.
“Only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future and that includes access to health services when you need them.
“Our ailing health system is getting chronically worse under Labor, it’s clear that because of their chaos and crisis they don’t have the solutions needed to heal the Health Crisis. “Only the LNP has a plan to heal the Health Crisis and that starts with more resources, better triaging, releasing data in real-time and putting doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care.
“Time’s up for Labor.
“Queenslanders deserve better.”
