About Toowoomba North

The Toowoomba North electorate mainly covers the upper half of Toowoomba’s city area and stretches out to Highfields and Cabarlah.

It includes the city suburbs north of James Street, starting with Wilsonton, Newtown, Toowoomba City, East Toowoomba and Redwood continues past the urban fringe area of Blue Mountain Heights through to Highfields.

Toowoomba’s famous James Street is the divide for Toowoomba North and Toowoomba South electorates.

The Toowoomba North electorate was created in 1972 following the redistribution and abolishment of the electorate of Toowoomba West. For those history buffs or school students, previous members of Toowoomba North include:
