QUEENSLAND Treasurer Tim Nicholls today reaffirmed the LNP Government’s commitment to delivering a ‘Can Do’ small business environment.
Mr Nicholls outlined the Government’s plan to members of the Small Business Association of Australia on the Gold Coast.
He said the LNP had already taken measures in parliament aimed at making Queensland a more competitive place to do business.
“We’ve introduced legislation which will increase the payroll tax exemption threshold from $1 million to $1.1 million starting this July.
“This is the first step in our commitment to expanding the threshold to $1.6 million over six years, helping 20,000 small and medium businesses and supporting thousands of jobs for Queensland families.
“We will also make Queensland an easier place to do business by cutting red tape and regulation by 20 per cent,” he said.
“The LNP Government will grow a four-pillar economy built on tourism, construction, agriculture and resources.
“The LNP Government is also committed to providing necessary funds to support the Commonwealth Games – an event which will bring great opportunities for many small businesses in the Gold Coast region and beyond.
“We will continue to act in support of the almost 400,000 small businesses that employ less than 20 people, as they make up over 95 per cent of all Queensland businesses.
“We are committed to getting government off the back of small business and once again making Queensland the engine room of the Australian economy,” Mr Nicholls said.
