Labor cancels Parliament…again

Friday, 22 May 2020

LNP Manger of Opposition Business Jarrod Bleijie has hit out at the Palaszczuk Labor Government for cancelling a full Parliament sitting week scheduled for August.

The Parliamentary calendar was updated today and it showed Parliament would no longer sit on August 4-6.

“First Annastacia Palaszczuk cancelled the budget, cancelled Budget estimates hearings and now she has cancelled Parliament altogether,” Mr Bleijie said.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s decision to cancel the August sitting week proves it’s a bad government run by the weakest Premier in living memory.

“They are not only hiding from scrutiny, it shows they also don’t have a plan.

“Queensland’s economy is on a knife edge and it’s clear Labor are out of ideas.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk won’t get Queensland working again if she doesn’t even want turn up to work herself.

“Parliament has only sat for six days in the past 12 weeks.

“Labor’s decision means there will only be four sitting weeks between now and the next election – more than five months away.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk clearly wants to avoid as much scrutiny as possible of her weak leadership with the integrity scandals and corruption investigations that have rocked her bad government in the lead up to October 31.

“This in an arrogant Labor government fixated on themselves and not on the economic future of Queenslanders.”
