A boost for small business support

The LNP will support Queensland small and family businesses to improve their operations and processes, with dedicated courses to help them improve their practices and grow their productivity, if elected this month.

The LNP will partner with the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) to provide micro-credential courses, both face to face and online, to small business owner-managers to improve their planning and processes.

The LNP’S $11.5 million investment will give small businesses the right tools and skills to succeed, as part of the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.

Shadow Minister for Small and Family Business Brent Mickelberg said the commitment would deliver six UniSC micro-credential business courses in priority areas of need.

“The LNP will back our small businesses all the way and give them the skills to be resilient and leverage opportunities for growth,” Mr Mickelberg said.

“The UniSC courses are co-created and co-evaluated by multiple industry partners, offering tangible support for Queensland’s small and medium businesses.

“Labor cut funding to this important program, which is just another example of how they have turned their back on Queensland small and family businesses.

“This is real support for regional communities and economies. Small businesses are the backbone of each community and only the LNP has the Right Plan for their future.”

LNP Candidate for Hervey Bay David Lee said small businesses in his community will benefit from this commitment.

“Business owners like Michael Hayes from Pialba’s GS Engineering have completed the UniSC course, and the proof is in the pudding with the success of his business, “Mr Lee said.

“This funding by the LNP will allow more business owners to learn new skills and they can do that either here on campus in Hervey Bay or online anywhere in Queensland.”

UniSC’s Professor Michael Wilmore, Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, said the university welcomed the initiative.

“These courses are delivered in an accessible and practical way, underpinned by relevant content, to help busy business owners and managers ensure their businesses are resilient and ready for growth,” said Professor Wilmore.

Mr Lee said Queenslanders could vote for the small and family business courses and a Fresh Start for Queensland, by voting LNP on October 26.

“Only by voting 1 LNP will Queenslanders get a Fresh Start and projects like the $11.5 million commitment to training courses,” Mr Lee said.

“Labor and Adrian Tantari are desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same under Labor.

“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
