ACT restrictions lifted

Friday 18 September, 2020

Media statement from LNP Leader Deb Frecklington on today’s lifting of travel restrictions from the ACT to Queensland:

‘I raised the issue of the travel restrictions on the ACT at my meeting with the Chief Health Officer this week.

‘The LNP welcomes the decision, but it’s disappointing that it came too late for Sarah Caisip to attend her father’s funeral.

‘The Palaszczuk Labor Government needs to demonstrate a lot more consistency, compassion and common sense when it comes to border controls and exemptions.

‘There hasn’t been a coronavirus case in the ACT for months.

‘The only reason the ACT was declared a hotspot was because Annastacia Palaszczuk couldn’t work with other states to put in place appropriate border controls.

‘It’s time for Labor to stop using borders as a political weapon.’
