Labor’s greedy tax grab on grey nomads

Thousands of Queenslanders are set to be hit by the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s greedy tax on new cars, campervans and motorhomes.

Member for Toowoomba North Trevor Watts said ‘grey nomads’ and Queensland families will be forced to pay thousands of dollars more to live the Queensland dream.

“Labor’s vehicle tax will add thousands of dollars to the cost of a campervan or motorhome under 4.5 tonnes,” Mr Watts said.

“This means Queenslanders will be forced to work harder and longer to own their own caravan.

“Despite families and retirees working hard to realise their dreams, the Palaszczuk Labor Government rushed their vehicle tax through without proper consultation.

“Industry groups like the Caravan and Trade and Industries Association were ignored, as were the thousands of Queenslanders who’ll be slugged when they go to buy their dream vehicle.

“Labor’s vehicle tax is not just a tax on retirees and families, it’s also a tax on Queensland’s regional tourism industry which relies heavily on the drive tourism market.”
