More testing stations today, More vaccines tomorrow.

“More testing stations today. More vaccines tomorrow. And small and family business funding by the end of the week. That’s how we can supercharge the fight against this outbreak.” David Crisafulli, Leader of the Opposition.

It is vitally important we are keeping up to date with the QLD Health advice.

To ensure we are keeping the community as safe as possible we must get tested if we are showing any symptoms or have visited any of the current exposure sites, and we must ensure we are getting vaccinated.

We have been lucky in Toowoomba to avoid the most recent lockdowns, but this doesn’t mean we should relax. The health of our community is extremely important and we must continue to do our bit to keep others safe.

TESTING

High testing numbers in Toowoomba is our best chance at beating this virus.

Testing helps us find as many cases in the community as quickly as possible. This will ensure we are doing everything we can to manage COVID-19 in the community.

If you have ANY of the following COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Runny nose
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Loss of smell and/or taste

VACCINATIONS

According to the Federal Government – https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines

Vaccination is the most effective way to protect against infectious diseases. Vaccines strengthen your immune system by training it to recognise and fight against specific viruses.

When you get vaccinated, you are protecting yourself and helping to protect the whole community.

Help reduce COVID-19 in the community

When enough people in the community are vaccinated, it slows down the spread of disease.

Achieving herd immunity is a long-term goal. It usually requires a large amount of the population to be vaccinated.

Studies will monitor the impact of COVID-19 vaccines in Australia and whether herd immunity is developing over time.

You should consult with your GP before deciding on which vaccination is right for you.

BUSINESS SUPPORT

If you or your business has been affected by COVID-19 in any way the Federal Government is offering support.

Head to: https://business.gov.au/ to find out more.

In Queensland, the LNP Opposition has repeatedly urged the Labor Government to prepare a small and family business support package.

The Government has finally buckled under the pressure, but unfortunately, it is going to take two weeks before they even begin to accept applications.

In that time more Queenslanders will lose their livelihoods.
