North Toowoomba Bowls Club receives funding boost for regional ladies’ competition

Member for Toowoomba North Trevor Watts was pleased to present the North Toowoomba Bowls Club with a $250 cash grant today, to support their long-running Ladies Summertime Fiesta.

Mr Watts said the grant, which was provided under the Toowoomba North Local Hero Grants Program, would help ensure the success of this year’s event.

“The Annual Ladies Summertime Fiesta is North Toowoomba Bowls Club’s biggest ladies lawn bowls event, attracting players from Taroom, Burrum Heads, Coolangatta and everywhere in between,” Mr Watts said.

“Almost 130 ladies are due to participate in this year’s event, which gives players an opportunity to further develop their skills, improve their fitness and socialise with other players from different parts of South-east Queensland.

“I am thrilled to be able to support the development of ladies sport in Toowoomba, through events like the Ladies Summertime Fiesta.

“This event gives the club an opportunity to showcase their excellent facilities.

“It also delivers an important economic benefit to the local community.”

Mr Watts congratulated the event coordinators (Lyn Mott & Lyn Graham) on their outstanding efforts in organising this year’s event.
