Rapid action on flood claims needed from insurance companies

Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington is offering her office’s assistance to North Queensland communities as flood recovery efforts begin.

“The flooding disaster has dealt a blow to thousands of Queenslanders who now need money fast,” Ms Frecklington said.

“I wrote to insurance companies on Monday calling on them to rapidly process claims to help flood-affected communities.

“I want North Queensland residents to know they are not alone and they can contact my office for help. We will fight for flood victims.

“If residents have concerns about their insurance claim, I can help by providing industry contact details.

“Red tape and slow claim processes are the last thing residents need when they’ve lost their home or business.

“The Insurance Council of Australia has declared this flooding event a “catastrophe”. Swift action and fair payouts are needed to get these communities back on their feet.

“I also called for the insurance industry to use local suppliers and contractors in the recovery works to give businesses a boost.”
