After listening to concerns of the community, it is clear road safety in the area is a top priority.
Changes in traffic flow, increased traffic and increased enrolments in local schools pose significant risks, particularly during peak school hours, making it harder for families to ensure a safe passage to and from school for their children.
Members of the community identified the following areas of concern:
- High Traffic Volumes: Roads around our schools are increasingly congested.
- Speeding Vehicles: My office is informed many drivers are failing to adhere to speed restrictions.
- Inadequate Traffic Calming Measures: Current measures are failing to manage vehicle speed and traffic flow.
The community is calling for urgent action:
- Conduct a comprehensive road safety audit.
- Implement stronger traffic calming measures.
- Enhance pedestrian infrastructure.
- Increase enforcement of speed limits.
By addressing these issues, we can make our community safer, and protect our children.
