The LNP is the only party with a plan to build the Second M1

Friday, 5th June 2020

It’s clear the only way the second M1 will be built will be by electing an LNP Government in October.

LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said busting congestion by building a Second M1 will create more local jobs and get people home sooner and safer.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk will not put a single shovel in the ground or build a single kilometre of this vital road anytime soon, in fact, Labor have said it won’t be built for 40 years,” * Ms Frecklington said.

“I have backed the Second M1 from day one and I’ve put $550m on the table to start building immediately.

“The LNP built the first M1 and it will be a priority for me to build the Second M1.

“Surveys are great, but shovels in the ground are needed now.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk had five years to back the Second M1 but hasn’t done a thing.

“Now more than ever, the Gold Coast needs an LNP government dedicated to building a stronger economy and creating local jobs.”

 Background:

The cost of construction has been estimated at $1.1bn by the SEQ Council of Mayors and the LNP would deliver the road under a 50:50 funding deal with the Federal Government.
